QUIET PARADE RELEASES DELUXE LP, THE WILL TO WEATHER ANOTHER STORM

ALBUM RELEASE & 20-YEAR CATALOGUE RETROSPECTIVE SHOW FRIDAY, APRIL 17 @ THE SANCTUARY ARTS CENTRE IN DARTMOUTH

Halifax fog rock quartet QUIET PARADE celebrates the release of their new album, The Will To Weather Another Storm. Stream it HERE and buy it HERE.

The Will To Weather Another Storm is a deluxe reissue of the band’s LP, The Will To Weather The Storm, released in April 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

“By the time the pandemmy kicked into high gear that spring, the wheels were already in motion for the album to be released,” explains Quiet Parade founder and frontman, Trevor Murphy. “The record was obviously launched into the ether in a cloud of uncertainty and unease, and it certainly didn’t reverberate the way we had hoped. But we are really proud of that album so we’re hoping to give it a second life.”

Alongside the 9 tracks originally released on the 2020 LP, The Will To Weather Another Storm is front-loaded with four brand new tracks.

Album opener “Ghosts In The Wind” finds Quiet Parade picking up right where they left off six years ago, revelling in the atmospheric pop rock that crystallized on their last record. Self-produced by the band and record by Palmer Jamieson (Beauts), the track’s nostalgia-laden lyrics recall memories of touring in their early years and reach for moments of a bygone state of oblivious grace.

Wistful reflections (and the same production team) follow on “Empire,” a track originally released as a standalone single in 2025. Written in the throes of lockdowns, the steady build-to-crescendo arrangement is anchored by a narrative that makes peace with closing a particular chapter of your life. “Empire” comes to (welcomed) terms with recognizing you have lived through a momentous era rather than pining for a past life you know can never return.

Next Time We Love, a song about two lovers destined to find their way back to each other with a lifetime of lived experience in tow, sends Quiet Parade in a more shimmering direction. The deluxe LP’s lead single (accompanied by a lyric video directed by Jenna Marks), “Next Time We Love”  draws heavily on the high gloss pop-rock sheen of Nada Surf’s 2005 album The Weight Is A Gift to inform its sonic palette and the songwriting arrangements of the 1992 Gin Blossoms classic “Found Out About You” to nourish its structure. To harness these tones and capture this distinct approach, the band turned to John Mullane (Future Dad) who recorded, mixed and co-produced the track.

“Drawn To Secrets, the last of the four new offerings, is a cinematic slow burn produced by Gabrielle Papillon and mixed by longtime Quiet Parade collaborator, Daniel Ledwell (Jenn GrantKim Harris). A storytelling song at heart that delves into the increasingly forceful push and pull between capital T truth, fear, trust, and lived experience, the track’s shifting, powerful layers help underline the sense of unease delivered in the lyrics, all while exploring dramatic mystery, subtle beauty, and sought after hope.

Quiet Parade celebrates the release of The Will To Weather Another Storm this Friday, April 17 at The Sanctuary Arts Centre in Dartmouth, NS. More than simply a release party, the show is also a retrospective celebration of Quiet Parade’s entire catalogue spanning 20 years and will feature guest appearances by former members of the band. Tickets are $20 and are available HERE

Quiet Parade also plays in Yarmouth, NS later this spring on June 19 at the Ultramarine: Music & Arts Festival, where they will perform a set of songs inspired by Yarmouth at Holy Trinity Church.
