LISTEN: Ronny Howl – “Lies”

Acadian Embassy introduces Ronny Howl, a blistering new Nova Scotian five-piece celebrating the release of their debut single, “Lies.” Watch the official video HERE and listen to the track on your platform of choice.

Ronny Howl’s straight-yet-angular interlocking melodies and rhythms take elements of pop music to extra-familiar places. Bringing together members of Cold Warps (Lance Purcell, drums), Joyless Streets (Nigel Tinker, guitar & vocals; Jeff Chew, guitar & backup vocals), Fossil Cliffs (Mike D’Eon, guitar & backup vocals), and Myles Deck & The Fuzz (Alan Hoskins, bass & backup vocals), the eclectic team of Halifax music vets seamlessly combine elements of washy post-punk, sprawling garage rock, and spasmodic punk.

Outfitted with an affinity for the off-kilter and flair for the idiosyncratic, Ronny Howl draws ostensible lines to seminal guitar-driven indie rock acts such Modest Mouse, Pavement, Pixies, and Built To Spill all while writing their own erratic story.

“Lies” is the first offering from the band’s upcoming, self-titled EP. Recorded with legendary engineer and producer Charles Austin (The Super FriendzNeuseiland, Aqua Alta) at Ocean Floor Recording, the record is due out next month.
