\nAround 1632 the first Acadian families (the Gaudet\u2019s being one of them), came to Acadia.They brought with them the first horses in the region, perhaps some of the first horses in North America. During the deportation of the Acadians in 1755 about 60 of these horses were shipped to Sable Island, about 300 km south east of Halifax, NS. The captain who left the horses died before he could retrieve them, and these horses became the famous wild horses of Sable Island. The\u00a0wild Acadian horses of Sable Island continue to inspire me.<\/span><\/p>\nD\u00c9CLARATION DE L’ARTISTE:
\nVers 1632, les premi\u00e8res familles acadiennes (dont celle des Gaudet) sont venues s\u2019\u00e9tablir en Acadie. Elles ont apport\u00e9 les premiers chevaux qu\u2019ait jamais vus la r\u00e9gion et il est possible qu\u2019il se soit agi l\u00e0 de certains des tout premiers chevaux arriv\u00e9s en Am\u00e9rique du Nord.
