With Halloween on the horizon,\u00a0Acajonne<\/em>\u00a0powerpop trio\u00a0SLUICE<\/strong>\u00a0delves into the world of witchcraft with their new music video, “Sorci\u00e8re de la Pointe-du-Sault<\/a><\/strong>.” Watch it\u00a0HERE<\/a>\u00a0or by clicking on the player above.\u00a0

“Sorci\u00e8re de la Pointe-du-Sault”\u00a0borrows from generational folklore to tell the story of Vitaline Muise, a woman from Sluice Point, Nova Scotia who many in the community believed to be a real life witch. Combining tales about casting spells, dancing ducks, and unexplained fires passed down through the whisperings of Acadian children, the lyrics also draw on anecdotes collected by renowned folklorist\u00a0Helen Creighton<\/strong>\u00a0to underpin the longstanding belief in witchcraft throughout many Par-en-Bas villages.<\/p>

The music video for \u201cSorci\u00e8re de la Pointe-du-Sault\u201d juxtaposes these stories of \u201cold school\u201d sorcery by focusing instead on contemporary witchcraft. Shot by acclaimed director\u00a0MOOSECANFLY<\/strong>\u00a0(Customer Service<\/strong>,\u00a0Goldie Boutilier<\/strong>,\u00a0Nicole Ariana<\/strong>), director of photography\u00a0Andrew Rhodenizer<\/strong>, and starring\u00a0Jadelyn Ross<\/strong>, the video depicts a very online witch casting spells on the unassuming band through both the ether and the internet.\u00a0

The release of this new video comes ahead of three upcoming performances for Sluice this fall \u2013 an opening slot for\u00a0Les Hay Babies<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0Francofest<\/strong>\u00a0in Halifax, NS on\u00a0October 25<\/u>, an acoustic solo showcase as part of the\u00a0Caf\u00e9 Export<\/strong>\u00a0component of la\u00a0FrancoF\u00eate en Acadie<\/strong>\u00a0in Dieppe, NB on\u00a0November 06<\/u>, and a full-band showcase during the FrancoF\u00eate\u2019s official afterparty series\u00a0ON\u00c9PASCOUCH\u00c9S<\/strong>\u00a0in Moncton, NB on\u00a0November 07<\/u>.
