NEW 2-DAY FESTIVAL TAKES PLACE IN YARMOUTH, NS JUNE 20-21<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Ultramarine: Music & Arts Festival \u2013 a new two-day festival in Yarmouth, NS \u2013 unveils <\/span>Postdata<\/b>, <\/span>Nico Paulo<\/b>, <\/span>Loviet<\/b>, <\/span>Cheval<\/b>, <\/span>Customer Service<\/b>, <\/span>All Mother<\/b>, <\/span>DSkill Smithy<\/b>, <\/span>Harry Thurston<\/b>, and <\/span>C\u00e9leste Godin <\/b>as the slate of artists performing during its inaugural edition. Taking place <\/span>June 20-21, 2025<\/span> in the heart of downtown Yarmouth, Ultramarine is a multidisciplinary arts festival focused on showcasing emerging talent alongside more established artists from Southwestern Nova Scotia and beyond through live music, readings, and a visual arts display. The festival is built on the idea of shining a light on the community\u2019s creative legacy and fostering a celebration of the town\u2019s deep cultural history all while curating an eclectic lineup of innovative art and artists from across the Atlantic region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Ultramarine\u2019s debut show is a prime example of this concept. On <\/span>Friday, June 20<\/span>, the festival kicks off with a special show at Holy Trinity Church headlined by <\/span>Postdata<\/b> \u2013 the solo project of Yarmouth\u2019s Paul Murphy (<\/span>Wintersleep<\/b>). Murphy will celebrate the 15th anniversary of his debut\u00a0<\/span>solo record by performing it in its entirety, along with other selections from his expansive catalogue. The evening opens with a performance from <\/span>Cheval<\/b>, the alt-folk moniker of Wedgeport musician AA Wallace (<\/span>Sluice<\/b>, <\/span>Sleepless Nights<\/b>) and a very special reading by poet and author <\/span>Harry Thurston<\/b>, whose poem and poetry collection, <\/span>Ultramarine<\/span><\/i>, inspired the festival\u2019s name.<\/span><\/p>

The following evening, on <\/span>Saturday, June 21<\/span> at Holy Trinity, Ultramarine welcomes Newfoundland-via-Portugal songwriter <\/span>Nico Paulo <\/b>for her first ever performance in Yarmouth. Named \u201cyour favourite new vocalist\u201d by <\/span>MTV<\/b>, Paulo has established herself as a spellbinding live performer on stages around the world. The show opens with a set from Yarmouth-based folk trio <\/span>All Mother <\/b>and a reading by Acadian poet, author, and multidisciplinary artist <\/span>C\u00e9leste Godin<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

Later that evening, Ultramarine wraps up with a show on the Yarmouth waterfront. Hosted at the Rudder’s Seafood Restaurant & Brew Pub outdoor tent, the event features some of Nova Scotia\u2019s most exciting rising stars. Anchored by <\/span>Loviet<\/b>, the Toronto-via-Shelburne powerhouse of radiant pop who has performed at <\/span>Lollapalooza<\/b> (US), <\/span>Festival d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 de Qu\u00e9bec<\/b>, and the <\/span>Great Escape<\/b> (UK), the finale show also welcomes Halifax emo-rock revivalists Customer Service, who recently signed with the Toronto-based record label <\/span>Royal Mountain<\/b>, and Yarmouth rapper <\/span>DSkill Smithy<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

During the week leading up to the event and throughout the festival weekend, Ultramarine also includes a special multi-media exhibit hosted by the Waterfront Gallery on Main Street. The free exhibit will feature photographs of Yarmouth musicians through the years, posters from past shows, and other work.<\/span><\/p>
