From the intro, the Latin rhythm synths and shakers set a melancholic tone, before the chorus bursts into a dynamic mix of guitar, piano, and drums.<\/span>\n\nThe double single captures the pain and guilt associated with the end of a romantic relationship, often caused by circumstances beyond our control, such as moving away or a career change. It explores the heartache of seeing someone who was once close become a stranger after a breakup.<\/span>\n\n“I wrote this song after my first breakup at 18, when my high school boyfriend left for university,” explains Serena Wu. “We tried a long-distance relationship, but it ended badly, and we hated each other.
