Acadian Embassy\u00a0<\/strong>celebrates the release of\u00a0“\u00c9tranger<\/a><\/strong>,“<\/strong>\u00a0a brand new single from bilingual pop artist\u00a0SERENA WU<\/strong>. Listen\u00a0HERE<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or by clicking the artwork above.

Produced, recorded, and mixed by award-winning collaborator\u00a0Daniel Ledwell<\/strong>\u00a0(Jenn Grant, The Once, Quiet Parade<\/strong>), the buoyant French-language pop track explores the confusion of falling for someone while simultaneously questioning who they really are. Kicking off with a single staccato ukulele, the song quickly opens up to a panoply of soulful funk-infused instrumentation that propels the quick-hitter track throughout. A playful bassline, shimmering guitar riffs and an energetic brass section provide an ample – and exciting – frame for the young singer\u2019s dynamic voice and textured harmonies.

Though she is the newest addition to the label roster, Serena Wu is certainly no stranger to Acadian Embassy. First coming into orbit of the collective in 2021, Serena provided backup vocals on\u00a0“\u00c9lectrique<\/a>,”<\/strong>\u00a0a single from\u00a0Sluice<\/strong>\u2019s debut album,\u00a0Le succ\u00e8s par le travail<\/strong><\/em>. She was also part of the slate of artists presented by Acadian Embassy at Nova Scotia Music Week in Yarmouth, NS last November.\u00a0

As with many of the label\u2019s artists and projects, Serena comes to the table with a deep connection to the region of Par-en-Bas. Though she is currently based in Halifax, NS, the multi-instrumentalist & singer traces part of her heritage back to the Acadian village of\u00a0Amirault\u2019s Hill<\/strong>, where members of her family still live.

“\u00c9tranger”\u00a0is the first in a series of new releases – both in French and English – set to come from Serena Wu. An official video for this debut single directed by\u00a0James Turpin<\/strong>\u00a0is slated for release on\u00a0October 16<\/u>\u00a0and another brand new track (also produced & recorded by Daniel Ledwell) will drop in the New Year.
