Grapevine Fires is an acoustic and piano duo that performs a mix of contemporary and classic covers peppered with original selections.
Formed by two members of East Coast folk rock act Quiet Parade – a band voted Best Band To Enjoy Quietly for the last four years by The Coast’s Best of Music Reader’s Poll – Grapevine Fires draws from a variety of genres to compile their eclectic set. Outfitted with subdued takes on Top 40 pop, classic rock, indie, and nostalgia-driven songs, the duo blends the old with the new to provide an evening of wide-ranging covers perfect for intimate occasions.
With nearly ten years of experience performing in various groups throughout the Maritimes and across Canada, Trevor Murphy (acoustic guitar/vocals) and Julia Weir (piano/vocals) have earned praise for their recent work together in Quiet Parade. The acclaim comes from journalists such as CBC’s Bob Mersereau who called the band’s latest album, Old Haunts, “a feast of beauty, shrouded in a little fog,” and outlets such as Chicago-based blog Consequence of Sound who praised their “lovely, understated and adept melodies,” and Live Music Guide who simply called their songs “beautiful and honest.”
The pair brings a similar ascetic to Grapevine Fires – thoughtful, graceful, and sincere music mining a songbook that bridges decades.
